Bristol’s Better Half Brewing closes after 2 years in business

Owners Mike and Rachel Haseltine confirmed the news in a Facebook post this week, which highlighted the challenges of being a small business operating during the pandemic.

“Since opening our doors (and even before), we have endured many challenges many of which have been overcome. Like all small businesses around the world, we have worked tirelessly to keep our doors open during the pandemic and have received a lot of support from our community, ”the couple said in their Facebook post. “Unfortunately, we were not able to get to the other side completely and we are announcing that we have closed our doors as of December 31.”

The post garnered 618 likes and 191 comments on Facebook.

Better Half Brewing opened in July 2019 at Park Plaza on North Main Street. During its two years in business, Better Half Brewing has broadened its flavor profile with a wide variety of drink options like CBD seltzers and Nitro Peanut Porters.

When not serving beers, the Better Half hosted a number of acts of comedy and music.

According to bio on their site, Mike and Rachel Haseltine started Better Half Brewing after quitting their corporate jobs and wanting to share their passion for beer with others. Their aim was to “create memories, share stories and enjoy a good beer”.

In September, Wicked Brick Kitchen announced the takeover of Better Half Brewing Kitchen, serving up their signature pies and other shareable items. Wicked Brick Kitchen was operated by the team behind the HartFood ghost kitchen.
