Deputy Principal Melody Dunn arrives at Lower

LOWER POTTSGROVE PA – Melody Dunn, announced Aug. 9 (2022; Tuesday) by the Pottsgrove School District as the new vice-principal of Lower Pottsgrove Elementary School, has started work and will greet students at the opening of her doors Wednesday (August 24) for the first day of classes.

Dunn joins Pottsgrove from the West Chester Area School District, where most recently, as a teacher on special assignment, she served as vice-principal at Glen Acres and Hillsdale Elementary Schools.

Prior to his administrative experience, Dunn was a music teacher at two colleges in the West Chester Area School District for 12 years. She was nominated in 2015 for a Citadel Heart of Learning Award, served for two years as choir director at JR Fugett Middle School, and co-wrote a guitar elective course for 8th grade students at GA Stetson Middle. School.

Additionally, Dunn has performed for the past 15 years as a professional pianist and vocalist with several regional companies at weddings, parties, corporate events and for Hershey Park Entertainment. She was also a soloist for the Philadelphia Phillies.

Dunn holds a Masters and Bachelors of Music from West Chester University. In 2018, she earned her K-12 major certification at the University of Pennsylvania Graduate School of Education. She also has a Professional Certification in Teaching II, Music K-12.

She succeeds former deputy director James Dargan, whose resignation took effect July 27. Dunn will receive a starting salary of $89,000, following a unanimous vote of approval by the district’s council of principals.
