Ed Sheeran Wants To Match Coldplay’s Success – Music News

Ed Sheeran wants to match the success of Coldplay.

The 31-year-old musician admitted he won’t feel like he’s “succeeded” in the music industry until he’s as successful as Coldplay and U2.

Speaking to Access Creative College, where he is a patron, Ed said: “My next step is?…Coldplay has done 20 years, so I’d like to hit 20 in my career. I feel like It’s an achievable stage. But it’s still quite scary because it’s far.”

Ed revealed that he looked up to U2 and Coldplay due to the huge number of hits they had during their careers.

He explained: “I’m very young in my career compared to someone like U2 or Coldplay, but U2 and Coldplay are two bands that I watch with avidity.

“Their whole set is going to be hits. They’re never going to play a B-side that people sort of know about, and it’s always going to be a very impressive show. It’s just bigger, bigger, bigger, better, better, better.”

Meanwhile, Ed – who has daughters Lyra and Jupiter with wife Cherry Seaborn – previously revealed he plans to cut back on touring after becoming a dad.

He said: “I would hate to turn 20 and have a relationship with my children that had suffered because I chose the job over them.

“I honestly think this next tour that I’m going to do, at the end of the tour, I don’t see myself doing any of them like that again.

“I want to spend as much time as possible with my children.”
