Music in the Mountains will bring the World Class Chamber Orchestra to Grass Valley this Saturday – YubaNet

Music in the Mountains (MIM) announces its spring concert with one of the world’s finest soloists, Eva Lymenstull, and early music group, Sinfonia Spirituosa. This concert is a unique opportunity to hear a world-class band perform on original instruments. It will be held in Grass Valley on April 2, 2022 at 4 p.m. at the Lutheran Church of Peace. Tickets are on sale now.

Los Angeles-based baroque cellist and violist Eva Lymenstull has a diverse career that has taken her across North America and Europe as a soloist, chamber musician, continuo player and orchestral musician. She recently performed as concerto soloist and principal cellist with the Lyra Baroque Orchestra, guest principal cellist with the Atlanta Baroque Orchestra, Apollo’s Fire and Musica Angelica, and has also performed with the Baroque Orchestra of Tafelmusik, Voices of Music, Tesserae, Orchestra of the Age of Enlightenment and Holland Baroque Society.

The ensemble composition of strings, flute, bassoon, oboe, voice, harpsichord, organ, archlute, theorbo, and baroque guitar allows for programming that displays a surprisingly wide variety of national styles and unique instrument combinations. Sinfonia Spirituosa’s repertoire, which spans over 100 years of Baroque music, exemplifies the spontaneous and improvisatory character of the era and highlights the surprising and cosmopolitan harmonic language of the late 17th century, the rich complexity of German Baroque style and the sumptuous textures and dramatic flair of the late French composers.

Members of Sinfonia Spirituosa lead multi-faceted careers as university professors, recording artists, soloists, conductors, chamber musicians and symphonic musicians. They are active as teachers and performers on period and modern instruments, and many are directors of their own ensembles specializing in early music, romantic music, new music, jazz and gypsy swing.
