KFGO Radio’s top weekend show brings memories back to people’s lives through country music.
FARGO, ND (KVRR) — KFGO radio’s top weekend show has brought memories back into people’s lives through country music.
The Solid Gold Show has been going for about 40 years, playing decades-old country music for fans across the country.
Scott Winston has hosted on and off for the past 10 years.
“Well, I’ve been in country music for over 40 years now and so it’s really fun for me to be honest with you guys and I’ve been doing that for a long time. It’s great to see some of the old country songs from the years past. What’s cool and what’s cool about it is that it’s been very well received, a popular show on KFGO over the weekend,” said Scott Winston, host of Solid Gold Show .
Fans can text or call song requests on Saturday, starting early and early at 4 a.m.
Winston says they get requests from all over the country, places like Texas and California.
“We hear from people of all ages, from the very young to the elderly and I fit into that category myself, but it’s a broad demographic of people we hear from,” Winston said.
He says requests for certain artists vary by region.
“In this area, although he hasn’t had very big successes, very many successes, Chris Ledoux has a very loyal clientele in this part of the world and we get quite a few inquiries for Chris Ledoux and that’s part of from the region too.. Listeners from this part of the world have their favorites,” Winston said.
Winston appreciates the support the local community continues to show.
“They like the variety and the fact that we play requests, which not everyone does, but we do as many as we can if time permits,” Winston said.
If you want to tune in, the show airs every weekend from 4-11 a.m. on KFGO AM 790.
